Agios Georgios - Evia Greece

One more picturesque village located in North Evia is Agios Georgios which is located in the northwest point of the island and is the port of Lichada.

The village is situated 138 km from the capital town of Cgalkida and has a ferry connection with the port of Agios Konstantinos in Fthiotida on the mainland.

The area retains it's traditional character and is a major tourist destination with modern accommodation and many cafeterias and taverna restaurants. There are lovely beached in the region with crystal clear water. Also in Agios Georgios will find many commercial shops and services for the everyday convenience of the visitors.

The name of the village comes from the homonymous church of Agios Georgios which looked like a catacomb and was constructed on the foundations of an ancient hermitage. The area has shown rapid growth after 1970.

Within small distance from Agios Georgios you will find the beach of Kavos and the the small rocky islands of Lichadonisia (accessible with your own boat and by caiques from the port of Agios Georgios) it is a place that in recent years attracts large numbers of tourists.

On Lichadonisia there is a small sandy beach with small beach facilities and a beach bar. Other beaches in the area is Rododaphni, Agiokabos and Gregolimano.
